CHEF/ The Purpose of the Future University. Philosophy of Higher Education Conference
CHEF participation in conference. Conference Date: November 6th-8th, 2017. The conference will play an important role in the joint international endeavour of developing and strengthening the discussions about the purpose and role of the university as an institution. The conference will, therefore, be central to the formation of an initiative to establish a lasting joint international academic venture into the philosophy of higher education. We encourage a multigenerational host of participants including PhD students, and newer and experienced researchers and scholars. Registration deadline: October 3rd, 2017

Playful Literacies and Dynamic literacies: Valuing third spaces and young people’s agency
Talk by: Dr John Potter, UCL Knowledge Lab, UCL Institute of Education, University College London. This will be a talk which engages with notions of play as a dynamic form of engagement with meaning making, ephemeral but important in the lives of children and young people, and throughout the lifecourse. It will draw on examples from a range of media education research projects which have produced spontaneous moments of play during the course of exploring digital moving image production, coding and game authoring. CUDiM & House og Game//Play Talk: Alternate reality and pervasive games for learning: theory, design and practice
Alternate reality, pervasive and immersive games use clever design to blur the edges between reality and fiction, creating a compelling and (for core players) highly engaging experience. This talk by Alex Moseley, Educational Designer, Leicester Learning Institute, University of Leicester will present some core motivational features for immersive play and how that could be used to build successful game-based course and Pervasive Learning Games. There will also be time to try out one such game.

CUDiM/CHEF Talk: Participatory and playful approaches to analogue, digital and online education: some future directions
Joint external seminar on future trends and potentials in participatory analogue, digital and online education hosted by Center for Teaching Development and Digital Media in collaboration with the Centre for Higher Education Futures. This seminar focuses on potentials in adopting more participatory and playful approaches and attitudes when designing for and engaging students in higher education. Particularly, it will focus on the potentials of adopting a participatory playful approach for widening participation in HE, encouraging student engagement and designing for participation in online education – also on a massive scale such as found in e.g. MOOCs. The seminar itself will give examples of and demonstrate this approach.

MOOC-seminar: Open Online Courses som nyt uddannelsesformat?
På Aarhus Universitet har vi eksperimenteret med nye uddannelsesformer gennem to Open Online Courses (OOC), som har været gratis og åbne for alle at deltage i. På seminaret formidler vi erfaringerne fra de to forløb med henblik på en diskussion af potentialerne i at udvikle nye uddannelsesformater, der potentielt kan ramme nye målgrupper. Seminaret vil diskutere nye måder at studere og uddanne sig på både fra de indskrevne studerendes og fra de eksterne deltageres perspektiv.
